Martyn Pugh was born in Birmingham
in 1951. After graduating from Birmingham Polytechnic in 1976, he went on to establish
his workshop in Worcestershire, where he works to commission and designs both silverware
and jewellery collections which are sold world-wide.
Recent commissions include;
snooker and racing trophies for Guinness plc, chalice and paten for St Mary's D'Abernon,
the ceremonial mace for the University of Hertfordshire and cutlery for the Sheffield
Millennium Collection. Martyn Pugh's work is also represented in the Goldsmiths' Company
Modern Plate Collection.
He is a member of the
British Jewellers' Association, founder member of the Association of British Designer
Silversmiths, and a Freeman of the Goldsmiths' Company.
His style of simple elegance
and clean lines emphasises form, line and function, with surface decoration being used
purely to complement the whole.
